The Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative standard is designed for apprentices seeking a career in fast-paced, technically advanced and innovative manufacturing environments.
Lean Manufacturing Operatives are required to prepare, control, contribute to and complete manufacturing operations. They follow manufacturing processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs), adhering to specific safe working practices.
The standard is made up of core knowledge, skills and behaviours as well as specialist knowledge and skills, in line with 4 defined job roles:
- Production/Assembly
- Inspection/Quality
- Logistics/Material Handling
- Production Finishing/Processing.
A Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative might work as a Manufacturing Production Operative, Manufacturing Assembly Operative or Manufacturing Inspection/Quality Assurance Operative.
The training period will last at least 12 months and will typically be between 12 and 18 months. The learning is focused on ensuring the apprentice acquires the knowledge, skills, and behaviours, as set out by the standard as well as achieving a Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills).
Apprentices must also achieve level 1 in English and maths and then work towards level 2 English and maths, taking these tests prior to end-point assessment.
Knowing that your apprentice is on track is important and that is why SIAS offers its highly regarded Tracker document and Competence Evaluation Log that gives both the apprentice and employer confidence as the learning progresses.
Guidance materials and individual support for training providers, apprentices and employers are provided throughout the on-programme learning. We also deliver a number of events and webinars to advise and guide across the range of apprenticeships we assess.
