Entry Requirements Individual employers will set the selection criteria for their apprentices. Most candidates will have achieved grade C or above in English and mathematics at GCSE level prior to commencement of apprenticeship. Most candidates will also hold A-levels or existing relevant Level 3 qualifications or equivalent. Other relevant or prior experience may also be considered as an alternative.

SIAS would like to inform all parties of their intention to withdraw from offering end point assessment services for Level 5 Laboratory Scientist V1.0 (ST0247).

Apprentices on the legacy standard will be supported in transitioning to the new provision, where that is applicable. SIAS are unaware of any apprentices currently registered for this standard.

SIAS has set a proposed operational end date for this standard of 30th January 2026. If this withdrawal proceeds as proposed, SIAS will be unable to register any apprentices on to this version of this standard from that operational end date.

SIAS has set a proposed certification end date of 30th April 2026.
